WHAT TO EXPECT POST TREATMENT
- You may experience some minor swelling/redness for the first 24 hrs. The pigment will look darker in colour for the next 2-3 days and the shape of your brows/lips may appear thicker than desired due to minor swelling. You will need to avoid submerging your tattoo in water for 5 days and makeup/fake tan for a minimum of 2 weeks. Makeup can still be applied just not over the treatment area. Sun exposure will fade pigment prematurely - spf must be applied post treatment once brows have healed.
Aftercare pack is provided post treatment.
AFTERCARE
Proper care following your procedure is necessary to achieve the best results. Keep in mind that in many cases some unevenness of colour is to be expected. This is the purpose of the touch-up visit. Please review the following directions and refer to them as necessary. If during your healing process you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch.
Eyebrows
Apply Barrier cream 3-4 times daily.
Always apply before showering
In between each application, slightly wipe off old cream before applying next application.
If the skin is itchy, you may apply a little more cream. Some people, depending on metabolism will experience more exfoliation than others, some amount of itching can be normal.
Exfoliation is part of the healing process, do not worry.
Exfoliation usually takes 4-6 days
The colour underneath the brows will at this point appear to be much lighter in comparison to the skin which is coming off.
The eyebrows will take 7-10 days to fully appear after the peeling has finished. At this point the colour will be lighter and more natural in appearance.
Sunscreen is advised to protect the brows from fading.
Permanent Lips
Immediately after the treatment lips will be slightly swollen and tender and colour will appear much darker than the one chosen during the consultation.
Apply the aftercare cream constantly to keep the lips moist. The cream will help with soreness as well as holding the colour in. If you do not apply enough cream the lips begin to tighten, and pigmentation will come out.
Please do not pick – they will exfoliate on their own.
No hot drinks or spicy foods for the first day, no lipstick, kissing or direct water for the first few days.
The lips will exfoliate quickly after 3-4 days.
Full lip treatments do take longer, usually a week before the swelling and flaking has finished.
It will be 2-3 weeks before the true colour appears, while healing the skin may look shiny/translucent and the pigment will be less visible, the colour will return once healed. For some clients it is perfect, others it may be too light, or patchy in some areas. If this is happening, you can apply colour until your scheduled top up.
If you have had a cold sore previously, you will likely experience a breakout due to the stress on the lips. Please take over the counter anti-viral medication as a precaution before your appointment, following pharmacist instructions.
INSTRUCTIONS
After 24 hours wash liquid band aid with sterile water wipes provided, after this please do not submerge the area in water for 5 days. Please avoid any product excepted provided aftercare for the first 5 days as this could be detrimental to the bonding process that must take place for the pigment to stabilise in the dermis.
· Ice packs protected with a cloth may be applied as necessary to reduce swelling (lips). Bruising will occur in some cases. Sleeping slightly elevated helps alleviate swelling in the initial day/s. Apply a thin layer of ointment, more is not better.
· Wash your hands before touching any treated area always. Clean gently with provided water wipes.
· Absolutely no soaps, cleansing creams, makeup, or chemicals may be applied to the pigmented, treated area.
· No exercise/ excessive sweating.
· No Retin-A, glycolic acids, fruit acids or AHA acids on the treated areas. NOTE: After your procedure and after you are totally healed, DO NOT apply the active skincare ingredients over tattooed area. These products are excellent for our skin but be careful not to overlap them onto your permanent makeup. It will also be important to use a waterproof sun block on the area to help protect colour.
· Some itching is normal. Do not pick, peel, or scratch the treated area or your colour may heal unevenly, and you risk scarring and infection.
· No makeup is to be applied over treatment area for 2 weeks
· Do not expose your healing skin to direct sun, hot tubs, saunas, salt water, chlorinated pools, direct shower spray, hot water, skin creams, or anything other than what you have been instructed to use for 2 weeks following your procedure.
· Do not expose the treated area to the pressure of the water in a shower.
· If crust appears on the procedure area, do not pick, or peel the crust as this will compromise healed response. Do not touch the procedure area with fingers to prevent infection.
· Use a good sunscreen daily-even lips require protection. Sun exposure will fade your cosmetic tattoo. If you are planning a chemical peel, MRI, or other medical procedure, please inform your physician of your cosmetic tattoo.
NOTE: Permanent makeup procedures are affected by the canvas (your skin) that they are performed on. If your skin is sun damaged, thick, or uneven in texture or excessively dry or oily this may impact your healed results. Lifestyle, medications, smoking, metabolism, facial surgery, and age of skin all contribute to fading. Touch-ups are needed 6-8 weeks after your initial procedure to ensure the best result and to keep your permanent cosmetics looking their best. Your aftercare, as outlined in you post procedure directions is very important.
